Not crazy about the wood paneled bench top. I don't mind it for the lower shelf, but I feel the top layer looks flimsy. Can the layer be thicker, or another type of surface?
Yes, the top face is reminiscent of a bench or picnic table. I imagined a work table like in a modern craftsman's garage. It was a single thick wooden face. Yet, in this situation we won't have table-saws, balances and measures around.
