rib here with an update of the vignettes in the story. the story team decided to do 3 before and after scenes from the turning point (shrub incident). in short, there are 7 vignettes total. in detail:
B.S. (before shrub)
1. Digging holes to plant seeds - gardener stops robot from digging up a bush (close call grabs shovel) - gardener still grasping the shovel, directs it to correct place to dig (robot swivels, legs do not move)
2. Weeding (willy-nilly)
3. Planting seeds (same scenario where robot pats the dirt too hard)
--shrub incident-- (same scenario where robot shears too much of a sapling)
[mangled shrub is brought back in final scene and put in robot (gardener repairs it / regrows]
A.S. (after shrub)
1. Raking side by side (robot starts to mimic)
2. Robot is wheeling a squash in a wheelbarrow / gardener is picking beans (camera switches focus - over the shoulder shot)
3. FINAL vignette occurs at sunset / gardener is sitting on bench with a glass of water / looks up / robot is clipping hero tree
OTHER possible vignettes for A.S.
1. gardener turns valve for overhead sprinkler system (success of garden)
2. wiring support for weak plants (point where garden is more lush)
3. 2nd pruning, gardener checks on robot (kneels by him) / pats shoulder

Thanks for posting this RIB. I wonder if we could do some of these as extra scenes in storyboard, and whittle it down from there. I think seeing the scenes visualized would help us in our editing process.

ReplyDeleteHow long is it going to be in-between the shrub being half-destroyed and then the robot leaving the garden with the shrub? Because I don't know how long it will be for the gardener to bring it back.
ReplyDeleteAnd did you change it to the shrub instead? I thought you wanted him to take a sapling grown from an acorn from the oak tree.
